DESCRIPTION: ...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in New York... Black River At Watertown affecting Lewis and Jefferson Counties. For the Black River...including Boonville, Watertown...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Black River at Watertown. * WHEN...Until Saturday evening. * IMPACTS...At 10.0 feet, Flood stage, farmland flooding begins in the Flats with some roads flooded. Minor damages to riverfront commercial properties in Dexter. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:30 AM EDT Friday the stage was 9.86 feet. - Bankfull stage is 8.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 10.2 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage early tomorrow afternoon. - Flood stage is 10.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 10.1 feet on 03/29/2021. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Freezing rain is a condition where precipitation which has fallen in the form of
water droplets reaches temperatures which are below freezing and freezes upon
coming into contact
with surface objects. The result of this precipitation is a glaze of ice which
can be damaging to plants and man-made structures. A severe onset of freezing
rain which results in a very thick glaze of ice is known as an ice storm.

Hail is a form of precipitation which is recognized by large solid balls or
clumps of ice. Hail is created by thunderstorm clouds with strong updrafts of wind.
