AREAS AFFECTED: Bryan, GA; Chatham, GA; Liberty, GA
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Georgia, including the following counties, Bryan, Chatham and Liberty. * WHEN...Until 630 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 427 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms with torrential rainfall extending from Hunter Army Airfield south to Fleming. These storm will move little through 630 PM and may result in flooding of mainly low-lying and poor drainage areas. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Pooler, Richmond Hill, Coffee Bluff, Windsor Forest, Hunter Army Airfield, I-16/I-95 Interchange, Midtown Savannah, Downtown Savannah, Savannah International Airport and Wilmington Island.
INSTRUCTION: Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

A hole punch cloud is an unusual occurrence when a disk-shaped
hole appears in a cirrostratus, cirrocumulus, or altocumulus cloud.
When part of the cloud forms ice crystals, water droplets in the surrounding area
of the cloud evaporate. The effect of this process produces a large elliptical
gap in the cloud. The hole punch cloud formation is rare, but it is not specific
to any geographic area.
Other names which have been used to describe this phenomena include fallstreak hole,
skypunch, and cloud hole.

A nimbostratus cloud is similar to a stratus cloud in its formless,
smooth appearance. However, a nimbostratus cloud is darker than a stratus cloud,
because it is thicker.
Unlike a stratus cloud, a nimbostratus cloud typically brings with it the threat
of moderate to heavy precipitation. In some cases, the precipitation may evaporate
before reaching the ground, a phenomenon known as virga.
