DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...For the Winter Weather Advisory, mixed precipitation. Additional snow accumulations up to two inches and ice accumulations around a light glaze. For the Winter Storm Watch, heavy mixed precipitation and areas of blowing snow possible. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 7 inches and ice accumulations around a light glaze possible. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...Spink County. * WHEN...For the Winter Weather Advisory, until 7 PM CDT Thursday. For the Winter Storm Watch, from Friday morning through Saturday evening. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Falling and blowing snow may lead to areas of quick and sudden reductions to visibility, making travel difficult, especially in rural areas that are prone to blowing snow. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes.

Freezing rain is a condition where precipitation which has fallen in the form of
water droplets reaches temperatures which are below freezing and freezes upon
coming into contact
with surface objects. The result of this precipitation is a glaze of ice which
can be damaging to plants and man-made structures. A severe onset of freezing
rain which results in a very thick glaze of ice is known as an ice storm.

Hail is a form of precipitation which is recognized by large solid balls or
clumps of ice. Hail is created by thunderstorm clouds with strong updrafts of wind.
As the hailstones remain in the updraft, ice is deposited onto them until their
