AREAS AFFECTED: Burke, GA; Columbia, GA; McDuffie, GA; Richmond, GA; Aiken, SC; Edgefield, SC
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of east central Georgia, including the following counties, Burke, Columbia, McDuffie and Richmond and central South Carolina, including the following counties, Aiken and Edgefield. * WHEN...Until 1030 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 836 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... North Augusta, Grovetown, Evans, Fort Gordon, Martinez, Augusta, Belvedere, Clearwater, Hephzibah, Harlem, Augusta Mall, South Augusta, Village Plaza Shopping Center, Daniel Field, Glendale, Summerville, Midtown, Augusta National Golf Club, Augusta Regional Airport and Riverwood. - This includes the following highways... Interstate 520 in South Carolina between mile markers 16 and 23. Interstate 20 in South Carolina between mile markers 0 and 11. Interstate 20 in Georgia between mile markers 180 and 201. The final form taken by a growing cumulus cloud is the
cumulonimbus cloud, which is very tall and dense.
The tower of a cumulonimbus cloud can soar 23 km into the atmosphere, although
most commonly they stop growing at an altitude of 6 km.
Even small cumulonimbus clouds appear very large in comparison to other cloud types.
They can signal the approach of stormy weather, such as thunderstorms or blizzards.

Drizzle is precipitation in the form of water droplets which are
smaller than raindrops.
Drizzle is characterized by fine, gently falling droplets and typically does not
impact human habitation in a negative way. The exception to this is freezing drizzle,
a condition where drizzle freezes immediately upon reaching earth's surface.
Freezing drizzle is still less dangerous than freezing rain, but can
potentially result in hazardous road conditions.
