AREAS AFFECTED: Ellis, TX; Hill, TX; Johnson, TX; Navarro, TX
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Minor flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of north central Texas, including the following counties, Hill, Ellis, Johnson and Navarro. * WHEN...Until 830 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to scattered thunderstorms stretching from the I-35W corridor around Cleburne to Hillsboro eastward to the I-45 corridor from Palmer to Rice. Radar estimates up to 2 inches of rain has fallen in the past hour in parts of this area. Some roads and low lying and/or poor drainage areas will experience minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Waxahachie, Cleburne, Ennis, Midlothian, Hillsboro, Alvarado, Venus, Palmer, Italy, Itasca, Grandview, Maypearl, Bardwell, Alma, Covington, Carl's Corner, Bardwell Lake, Parker, Rice and Garrett.
INSTRUCTION: Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Altostratus clouds form at mid to high-level altitudes
(between 2 and 7 km) and are created by a warm, stable air mass which causes
water vapor
to condense as it rise through the atmosphere. Usually altostratus clouds are
featureless sheets characterized by a uniform color.
In some cases, wind punching through the cloud formation may give it a waved
appearance, called altostratus undulatus. Altostratus clouds
are commonly seen with other cloud formations accompanying them.

Cirrostratus clouds are high, thin clouds that form above
20,000 feet and are made mostly of ice crystals. They sometimes look like giant
feathers, horse tails, or curls of hair in the sky.
These clouds are pushed by the jet stream and can move at high speeds reaching
100 mph.
What do they indicate?
They indicate that a precipitation is likely within 24 hours.
