AREAS AFFECTED: Lexington, SC; Newberry, SC; Richland, SC; Saluda, SC

DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of central South Carolina, including the following counties, Lexington, Newberry, Richland and Saluda. * WHEN...Until 1015 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 703 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Newberry, Saluda, Prosperity, Saluda County Airport, Chapin, Little Mountain, Pomaria, Silverstreet, Peak, Wyses Ferry, Stoney Hill, Hollywood Elementary School, Riverbend Boat Ramp, Circle Fire Station, Fairview Fire Station, Lake Murray Shores, Mid-Carolina High School, Hickory Grove, Scurry Airport and Saluda High School. - This includes Interstate 26 between mile markers 75 and 93. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

INSTRUCTION: Most flooding deaths occur in vehicles. Never drive through a flooded roadway or around barricades. Turn around, don't drown.

Cirrocumulus Clouds Next Topic: Cirrostratus Clouds

Cirrocumulus clouds form at high altitudes (usually around 5 km) and have distinguishing characteristics displayed in a fine layer of small cloud patches. These small cloud patches are sometimes referred to as "cloudlets" in relation to the whole cloud formation.

Cirrocumulus clouds are formed from ice crystals and water droplets. Often, the water droplets in the cloud freeze into ice crystals and the cloud becomes a cirrostratus cloud. Because of this common occurrence, cirrocumulus cloud formations generally pass rapidly.
