AREAS AFFECTED: Newberry
DESCRIPTION: At 701 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Newberry College, or over Newberry, moving south at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Newberry, Newberry County Airport, Newberry College, Pomaria, Silverstreet, Newberry County Detention Center, US-176 and SC- 34 Crossroads, Belfast Wildlife Management Area, Chappells Fire Station, Bush River Fire Station, Vaughnville, Enoree Ranger District Office, Chappells, and Kinards. This includes Interstate 26 between mile markers 64 and 81.

Cirrocumulus clouds form at high altitudes (usually around 5 km)
and have distinguishing characteristics displayed in a fine layer of
small cloud patches. These small cloud patches are sometimes referred to as
"cloudlets" in relation to the whole cloud formation.
Cirrocumulus clouds are formed from ice crystals and water droplets. Often, the
water droplets in the cloud freeze into ice crystals and the cloud becomes a
cirrostratus cloud. Because of this common occurrence, cirrocumulus cloud
formations generally pass rapidly.
