Northeastern Pima County in southeastern Arizona... * Until 730 PM MST. * At 639 PM MST, a severe thunderstorm was located over Tucson Estates, moving northeast at 15 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Tucson, Marana, Casas Adobes, Drexel Heights, Flowing Wells, Pascua Pueblo Yaqui Reservation, Tucson Mountain Park, Tucson Estates, Saguaro National Park West, Valencia West and Ryan AirField. This includes the following highways... Route 86 between mile markers 160 and 169. Route 77 near mile marker 70. Interstate 10 between mile markers 248 and 259.

INSTRUCTION: Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing damaging winds and large hail.

Cirrocumulus Clouds Next Topic: Cirrostratus Clouds

Cirrocumulus clouds form at high altitudes (usually around 5 km) and have distinguishing characteristics displayed in a fine layer of small cloud patches. These small cloud patches are sometimes referred to as "cloudlets" in relation to the whole cloud formation.

Cirrocumulus clouds are formed from ice crystals and water droplets. Often, the water droplets in the cloud freeze into ice crystals and the cloud becomes a cirrostratus cloud. Because of this common occurrence, cirrocumulus cloud formations generally pass rapidly.
