AREAS AFFECTED: Northern Litchfield; Southern Litchfield; Northern Berkshire; Southern Berkshire; Eastern Rensselaer; Eastern Columbia; Eastern Ulster; Western Dutchess; Eastern Dutchess; Bennington; Western Windham
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 to 35 below zero expected. * WHERE...The Taconics and mid-Hudson Valley in eastern New York, northwestern Connecticut, western Massachusetts and Bennington and western Windham County in southern Vermont. * WHEN...From 6 PM Saturday to 1 PM EST Sunday. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.
INSTRUCTION: Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to drip slowly. Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Cumulus clouds are fluffy and textured with rounded tops, and
may have flat bottoms. The border of a cumulus cloud
is clearly defined, and can have the appearance of cotton or cauliflower.
Cumulus clouds form at low altitudes (rarely above 2 km) but can grow very tall,
becoming cumulus congestus and possibly the even taller cumulonimbus clouds.
When cumulus clouds become taller, they have a greater chance of producing precipitation.
